Much more than benches to sit on:
CO2 Bank

Co2 banks are found in many public and private spaces in Spain and Europe.

OXIGEN

OXIGEN is an initiative to promote the improvement of our community values and promote a more respectful relationship with nature, fusing nature, art and communication.

CO2

The initiative focuses on interactive elements made with local wood and other natural resources, intended for green public spaces in both urban-periurban environments and protected natural areas. We give new life to dead trees to turn them into an aesthetic element in harmony with nature and a meeting point and environmental awareness and into authentic CO2 stores.

El Parc de Collserola  aposta pel projecte   OXIGEN

More than twenty interventions in this natural space in Barcelona, recovering trees fallen by storms and transforming them into objects of artistic furniture and communication, linking these actions to forest management.

Each piece is made in situ, keeps the original shape of the recovered tree, and has a phrase engraved in the wood that communicates information about forest management and CO2 absorption.

Art and forest management work together to improve community values.

The CO2 Banks are located in several emblematic places of Collserola, such as the Pi d'en Xandri, the hermitage of Sant Medir, the Camí de les aigües, the Turó d'en Corts and the Penya del moro viewpoint and more others. Check the map:

"with a message engraved directly on the wood, they want to make citizens aware that the forest is a dynamic system, that it must be respected and that forest management must be done to prevent fires"

"the equivalent of driving 5,000 km. by car"

This bank was a Pine that fell in the Gloria storm of 2020, the remains of its still rooted stump are next to the two banks in what has become the trunk. Each bench of almost 5 meters in length is located right in front of the renowned Pi d'en Xandri in Sant Cugat del Vallès.

"2 arbres alliberen l'oxigen que respira 1 persona a l'any"

On the Camí de les Aigües we will find two spectacular benches also made with trees from the forests of Collserola that have died due to storms. The inscriptions we find there make us reflect on the importance of trees for our lives, thanks to their processes of oxygen production and CO2 storage.
